With summer around the corner, you may be thinking about replacing your old HVAC system to something new and more dependable for our Texas summer. HVAC companies use the term, Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER). A unit’s SEER rating is determined by the cooling output during a typical cooling season divided by the total electric energy input during the same time. For HVAC units, the higher the SEER rating the more energy efficient the unit. More commonly, the SEER is the ratio of cooling in BTU’s to the energy consumed in wattage hours.
