WATER OR AIR-COOLED CHILLERS
Life would be almost unbearable in the Southern half of the United States without air conditioning. Unlike other parts of the country, everyone in the South is familiar with mechanical air conditioning systems. But hot Texas summers show no mercy for the unlucky individual in the Lone Star state without mechanical cooling.
In both commercial buildings and industrial applications, the need for cool, dry air is most often met with an air-cooled or water-cooled chiller. Whether an air-cooled machine(outside) or water-cooled chiller (usually inside), all chillers create cold water to remove heat and humidity from a space or a process.
Water temperatures from a chiller depend on the application, and all chillers are custom selected to solve a specific issue. Most commercial buildings chiller’s output ranges from 42-45 degrees, and industrial chiller applications may see temps as low as 20 degrees.
Since air-cooled chillers do not require a cooling tower, initial purchase costs are lower than a water-cooled chiller plant. Less equipment to buy equals a lower up-front investment. However, air cooled chillers, while capable of making the same temperature of water as a water-cooled chiller, may be more expensive to run.
No matter the type of chiller plant you may be responsible for, RushCo can provide service for it. We have a dedicated group of chiller technicians and can quickly troubleshoot and repair your system. Call us today to get your system running as designed, or to explore options for expansion or equipment replacement.
